STUDIO SPOTLIGHT SERIES

Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl
Our STUDIO SPOTLIGHT SERIES focuses on more challenging and dramatic works, presented in our intimate backbox studio to smaller audiences. EURYDICE by Sarah Ruhl is our first in this series for Season 48, and will run from September 12-22, 2024. The cast and crew of this show will have the unique opportunity of participating in a collaborative devising workshop of the movement, music, and visual elements of this production prior to the start of traditional rehearsals.
In Eurydice, Sarah Ruhl reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine. Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love. With contemporary characters, ingenious plot twists, and breathtaking visual effects, the play is a fresh look at a timeless love story. Tickets will be available July 1.
I and You by Lauren Gunderson
One afternoon, Anthony arrives unexpectedly at classmate Caroline’s door bearing a beat-up copy of Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass, an urgent assignment from their English teacher. Homebound due to illness, Caroline hasn’t been to school in months, but she is as quick and sardonic as Anthony is athletic, sensitive, and popular. As these two let down their guards and share their secrets, this seemingly mundane poetry project unlocks a much deeper mystery that has brought them together. I and You is an ode to youth, life, love, and the strange beauty of human connectedness.
This great play will be our second Studio Spotlight production, taking the stage from April 10-20, 2025. Auditions will be announced later this year. Tickets will be available July 1.
