Season 48
Beauty and the Beast: August 2-18, 2024
This beloved fairytale recounts the story of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love – and be loved – before time runs out, the curse will end and he will be transformed into this former self. Or else he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. This “tale as old as time” offers a great opportunity to bring families together for theatre at its best.
Arsenic and Old Lace: October 18 – November 3, 2024
Mortimer Brewster’s engagement is upended when he discovers a corpse in his elderly aunts’ window seat. Between his aunts’ penchant for poisoning wine, a brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and another brother using plastic surgery to hide from the police — not to mention his own hesitancy about marriage – it’ll be a miracle if Mortimer makes it to his wedding. Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic comedy about the only thing more deadly than poison: family.
The Nerd: January 24 – February 9, 2025
This extraordinarily inventive comedy centers on the hilarious dilemma of a young architect who is visited by a man he’s never met but who saved his life in Vietnam. The unexpected visitor turns out to be an incredibly inept, hopelessly stupid “nerd” who outstays his welcome with a vengeance, leading to one uproarious incident after another, until the normally placid architect finds himself contemplating extreme measures to send his unwelcome guest packing.
Into The Woods: March 7-23, 2025
An epic fairytale about wishes, family and the choices we make. The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
Noises Off: May 2-18, 2025
In this well loved comedy, Frayne gives us a window into the inner workings of theatre as the playwithin-the-play gives audiences a look behind the scenes, progressing from flubbed lines and missed cues in the dress rehearsal to mounting friction between cast members in the final performance. Brimming with slapstick comedy, Noises Off is a delightful backstage farce, complete with slamming doors, falling trousers, and — of course — flying sardines!
